Seattle based Progressive Radio Northwest held a free public forum on the future of progressive radio, social networking, and independent media on March 26, 2014 at Impact Hub Seattle. Special guest speakers include independent journalist Mark Taylor Canfield, online radio host Space Dog of Space Dog Radio, and Jacob Dean of Filter Free Radio. Discussion topics include: An overview of the social networking platforms and technologies used to access and promote progressive media such as Hardware (Desktops/Laptops/Mobile Devices) & Software Applications, Facebook, Twitter, Google Groups, Sound Cloud, YouTube, Chat Rooms, Mumble, etc as well as how do progressive radio producers/hosts use social networking platforms to
find a progressive audience, organize progressive media networks, interact with other content providers,
recruit guests, produce programming, etc. How can you use social networking tools to strengthen advocacy and catalyze action? And of course there is a question and answer period with the audience near the end. Visit http://www.progressiveradionorthwest.org for more information on this and upcoming forums and much more!
We know not everyone was able to make it to the forum in person. For that reason, with permission from PRNW, I would like to share the audio recording I made of the event. Please note that some audience questions were not picked up by the recording, I have edited those to the best of my ability to make them somewhat audible. Please share the PRNW website and this mp3 far and wide! Spread the word and make change happen! Thank you! And another huge thank you to PRNW, Mark, SpaceDog and everyone who came! I had an amazing time and can't wait for the next meeting of the minds! Keep up the good fight and I'm always willing to continue the conversation. - Jacob Dean
