Noam Chomsky on Everything: War, Capitalism, Racism, & the lies we tell ourselves...

This is a dense 20 minute interview with Noam by Laura Flanders. He explains how the US has never been a democracy, and brags about being the "World's Biggest Terrorist State." He also shows how we don't even have Capitalism, we have Corporate Socialism, sponsored by a Country whose economy has always relied on Slave Labor...Even Today. Also, China's Pollution is Our Pollution because they are our manufacturing base. Hope will come in movements that, unfortunately, have no institutional memory.

Chris Hedges Interviews Noam Chomsky

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Chris Hedges speaks with Professor Noam Chomsky about working-class resistance during the Industrial Revolution, propaganda, and the historical role played by intellectuals in times of war. Chomsky: "The system we have now is radically anti-capitalist, radically anti-democratic, opposed to markets, and in favor of concentrating wealth and power." Noam also says Occupy challenges the atomization of society, and also discusses how the media obstructs meaningful action to address climate change.

Movement Action Plan (MAP) - By Bill Moyer

Bill Moyer (September 17, 1933 – October 21, 2002), was a United States social change activist who was a principal organizer in the 1966 Chicago Open Housing Movement. He was an author, and a founding member of the Movement for a New Society. Moyer developed the Movement Action Plan (MAP) to achieve this end. Since its development it has been used to train hundreds of activists, most notably in the United States, Australia, Canada and Europe. Here is Bill Moyer's final talk before his untimely death from cancer.

Chris Hedges & "Mr. Fish": War and its Meaning...

For the first 32 minutes of the video Chris Hedges gives an impassioned & gripping talk on his personal, first hand, experiences in war and political thoughts on this topic. This is then followed by an amazing 25 minute Q&A period where both Chris hedges and Dwayne "Mr. Fish" Booth respond to several questions asked by the audience, and as always what is said is amazingly thought provoking. Both Dwayne Booth and Chris Hedges have been working collaborators and good friends for the last 6 years.

Chris Hedges - Our Only Hope Comes Through Rebellion!

The "Deep State" Hiding in Plain Sight -

Mike Lofgren, a congressional staff member for 28 years, joins Bill Moyers to talk about what he calls Washington's "Deep State," in which elected and unelected figures collude to protect and serve powerful vested interests. “It is how we had deregulation, financialization of the economy, the Wall Street bust, the erosion or our civil liberties and perpetual war," Lofgren tells Moyers....

Chris Hedges: Crisis Zones, Collapse, & the Antidote to Defeatism

Chris Hedges spoke with RT’s Abby Martin about the forces driving the acceleration of global decline.  It's the system that is, not so much driven by individuals but, fueled by profits & monetary value over all else.  Everything has a price & will be exploited until collapse.  Nothing is sacred.  We have lost our ability for empathy.  We can't talk about Hope without resistance.

Chris Hedges: The Myth of Human Progress & the Collapse of Complex Societies

All Species go extinct, and humans are no exception.  Like the Mayans, Aztecs, Egyptians, Romans, Easter Island, etc, Our Civilization will inevitably collapse.  The only difference is that, this time, the whole planet goes down with us.  Chris Hedges has taken on the daunting task of explaining to people, who don't want to hear it, what is happening and what must be done to stop this insane spiral into collective suicide.  We are all on the Pequod and Mutiny our only salvation.

"HomoToxicUs" - or How we are poisoned everyday

Here is an insightful French Canadian Documentary that demonstrates one of the many reasons we have to cut ourselves off from the Corrupt Corporate State.  The Food, Pharmaceutical, & Petro-Chemical Industries are literally poisoning us.  Ever wonder where Cancer comes from?
Death by a thousand cuts...In our modern world our exposure to 150,000 different chemicals, in almost every product, may one day spell our doom.  It will be unchangeable, as it will be bound in our very DNA.

Chris Hedges & NSA whistle-blower William Binney on NSA Criminality

Hedges and Binney on Obama's NSA guidelines - Reality Asserts Itself Pt.1
Chris Hedges and NSA whistle-blower William Binney tell Paul Jay that there should be accountability, including the President himself, for the criminal practices used by the NSA against the American people:
"DEA created a separate division, a special operations division, to look into the NSA data to find information about citizens that were involved in drugs or other kinds of criminal activity, and then used that evidence to point state and local police to them to arrest them. And then, once they get them arrested, they had rules on how to manage this data. They weren't to tell the police who made the arrest or the courts or the lawyers defending or prosecuting or the judges, and no one was to know the source of the original data. They had to do a parallel construction, which was to go and find evidence that they would have accumulated in a normal police procedure to justify an arrest to begin with, and then substitute that evidence for the information that they really used to arrest."

Pt.2 Chris Hedges and William Binney answer the question:"What should the NSA policy look like?"

Park Avenue: Money, Power & the American Dream

740 Park Ave, New York City, is home to some of the wealthiest Americans. Across the Harlem River, 10 minutes to the north, is the other Park Avenue in South Bronx, where more than half the population needs food stamps and children are 20 times more likely to be killed. In the last 30 years, inequality has rocketed in the US -- the American Dream only applies to those with money to lobby politicians for friendly bills on Capitol Hill

The Pathology of the Wealthy - Chris Hedges

On Reality Asserts Itself with Paul Jay, Chris Hedges discusses the psychology of the super rich; their sense of entitlement, the dehumanization of workers, and mistaken belief that their wealth will insulate them from the coming storms.

The Power & Potential of Nonviolent Struggle by Gene Sharp

Political power is not intrinsic to rulers nor is it monolithic. Political power is derived from the people of a place and will disintegrate when people withdraw their obedience and support.

6,000 lbs of food on 1/10th acre - Urban Farm

From 1/10th of an acre, four people manage to get over 90% of their daily food and the family reports earnings of $20,000 per year (AFTER they eat from what is produced). This is done without the use of the expensive & destructive synthetic chemicals associated with industrial mono-cropping, while simultaneously improving the fertility and overall condition of the land being used to grow this food on. Scaled up to an acre, that would equal $200,000 per year!

Capitalism Hits the Fan - Richard Wolff

Capitalism Hits the Fan, and Q&A - Professor Wolff breaks down the root causes of today's economic crisis and traces its source to the 1970s, when wages began to stagnate and American workers were forced into a spiral of borrowing and debt. By placing the crisis in this framework, Wolff argues that proposals for government "bailouts," offers of stimulus packages, and calls for increased market regulation will not address the real causes of the crisis. He suggests that far more fundamental change is necessary to avoid future catastrophes. Richly illustrated with motion graphics, Capitalism Hits the Fan is a superb introduction to the unraveling economic crisis for ordinary citizens. - A MUST WATCH!!!

Capitalism IS The Crisis

One you grasp that it's not just a few bad apples and that our current economic system is itself the problem, then you begin to understand how we got here and what must be done to save ourselves.
"Capitalism Is The Crisis: Radical Politics in the Age of Austerity examines the ideological roots of the "austerity" agenda and proposes revolutionary paths out of the current crisis. The film features original interviews with Chris Hedges, Derrick Jensen, Michael Hardt, Peter Gelderloos, Leo Panitch, David McNally, Richard J.F. Day, Imre Szeman, Wayne Price, and many more!"

What does it mean when our habits shape a world in which we can no longer live? "This is a film about you, me, and the routine of obedience." - "It's difficult to shift our behavior to anything that we are unfamiliar with." ~ But it is our only means of survival.

This short film charts the rise of the Corporate State, and examines the future of obedience in a world of unfettered capitalism, globalisation, staggering inequality and environmental change.

The film predominantly focuses on US corporate capitalism, but it is my hope that the viewer can recognise the relevance of what is being expressed with regards to domestic political and corporate activity.

'War is a Force that Gives us Meaning' with Chris Hedges

War Correspondent Chris Hedges is taking on a very tough job, telling the truth to people who absolutely do not want to hear it.  His first hand accounts of war makes this is his most compelling speach!
"In war, Truth is the first casualty." -"Violence is a disease, a disease that corrupts all who use it regardless of the cause.”
"We are tempted, maybe even encouraged, to reduce life to a simple search for happiness. Happiness, however, withers if there is no meaning. The other temptation is to disavow the search for happiness in order to be faithful to that which provides meaning. But to live only for meaning, indifferent to all happiness, makes us fanatic, self-righteous, and cold. It leaves us cut off from our own humanity and the humanity of others." - and his most famous quote, used in The Hurt Locker: "The rush of battle is often a potent and lethal addiction, for war is a drug.”

Slavoj Zizek - neither the Market nor the Gov't will fix our Crisis

[despite the opening credits not being in English, this video is in English]  Our current capitalist system, that everyone believed would be smoothly spread around the globe, is untenable.  We find ourselves on the brink of big problems that calls for big solutions.  Whatever is left of the left, has been hedged in by western liberal democracy and seems to lack the energy to come up with radical solutions

Slavoj Zizek - Why charity is fucked up & bullshit

I love these Animations! Zizek will blow your mind. He is talking about identifying the rot of the Global Capitalism system as a whole. Being able to re-imagine society. He can sure turn a phrase. "Charity degrades and demoralizes." "The worst slave owners were the ones who were nice to their slaves." And my personal favorite: “There is a certain type of misanthropy which is much better as a social attitude than this cheap, charitable, optimism”

If it sticks to imperialism, it will, like the old Roman Republic on which so much of our system was modeled, like the old Roman Republic, it will lose its democracy to a domestic dictatorship." - Chalmers Johnson
